Baytown election race heats after District 2 contender Chris Presley revealed he donated 750 to two local youth baseball teams amid allegations against Councilman Scott Sheley. Police seek purse snatchers in Baytown robberies
Baytown police search for one group suspected of two related purse snatchings and an attempted robbery on Tuesday between 2 and 2:15 pm. A 50-year-old woman on Park Street near Rice reported a Hispanic male in a teens or 20s exited a black Mitsubishi, grabbed at her purse and fled east on Park with a partially read Texas plate BSD93. In a second incident a 44-year-old woman walking with her 2-year-old son on West Main Street was knocked to the ground as a white male, about 6 feet 2 and 200 pounds, took her purse and fled west on West Main. Halloween food drives aim to 50 000 item goal
Interact Club students from Robert E. Lee Goose Creek Memorial Ross S. Sterling and IMPACT Early College High School organize Trick or Treat for Hunger in Baytown seeking thousands of nonperishable items. Last year the effort collected 25 000 items overall. this year the goal climbs to 50 000 with clubs across California Colorado Florida New York and Washington joining. Brian Valenta notes Baytown residents are warming to teens collecting food. He adds his group gathered 2850 items in 2012.
