Dennis McKenna, born ten weeks premature and weighing 27 ounces, left Adelphia Hospital in Brooklyn with his parents. Doctors had given survival odds of 1090 to 1. The hospital tore up the bill as a gift and offered a $25 savings bond to start a bank account for him.

Olen T. Jones, candidate for position one in the Texas House of Representatives, says his platform is to do his best to please the public and do the right thing. Born in Huntsville in 1923, he moved to near Houston in 1925 and lived on a farm in Almeda for years. A San Jacinto High School graduate, he studied at Texas A and M College, the University of Texas, and now attends South Texas School of Law while running a coffee distribution business with three downtown Houston offices. He was in Baytown over the weekend distributing campaign cards to refinery workers.

Mississippi Lads Drive 1929 Ford to Canada and Back
Two Tupelo youths, Ropee Barnes and Charles Williams, drove a 1922 Ford to Windsor Canada and returned, crossing the Ambassador Bridge after a 750 mile journey. The car averaged over 30 miles per gallon at about 30 mph, with the boys citing a hopful dare as the motive and praising the trip’s rugged road. Canadian customs inspected them on arrival.
