Reality of war realized at depot
A reminiscence recalls the Houston Southern Pacific station once rich with wartime farewells. Personal memories describe Grand Central, notable trains like the Sunbeam and Sunset Limited, and the shift of Houston rail service over time. The piece connects homefront anxiety with Memorial Day reflections on troops abroad.
