Coffee prices hit five year low in stores
Retail prices for coffee have fallen to the lowest level in five years as brands reach about 5 cents per pound in some cases. Mexican Farm Labor Bill Approved By Committee
The House Agriculture committee approved a bill to extend the U S government program recruiting Mexicans to work on American farms until June 30, 1959 and to negotiate a new labor agreement with Mexico to replace the expiring one. The committee added amendments requiring Labor Department consultation with employer and worker groups and eliminating double liability for transport costs if a Mexican worker fails to return.
