Humble Day Opens With Big Turnout For Events
Humble Day started smoothly with thousands of club members and families attending a star studded program. Curly Fox and Texas Ruby entertained at 6 am and again at 4 pm on the Community Building grounds. A noon barbecue fed many, a 5 pm barbecue for those not served at noon. A softball game Houston versus Baytown Humble terms featured, culminating in a 9 pm community dance. A special playoff contest between Robert E. Lee Ganders and Pasadena Eagles at 4 30 pm decided the district 124A championship. Attendance looked set to break records.

City Water Holds Up For Summer Says Baytown Manager
City manager C D Akiddieton reported Baytown has six wells capable of 4085 gallons per minute and 2 453 700 gallons per hour, totaling 5 882 400 gallons daily and with nine booster pumps 6 190 000 gallons daily. April usage averaged 1 498 000 gallons daily. officials expect higher August and September demand. Prior to filter cleaning pumps yielded 200 gallons per minute, now about 600 with the water 25 feet above pumping level. Further figures on supply will follow later this year.
