Center Named For Former LT President Setzer Center
BEAUMONT AP The new Setzer Student Center at Lamar State College of Technology is named for the late Dr. Richard W. Setzer, under whose administration the 2.8 million center was approved. The former Lamar president died March 8, 1969, three months before Bella Co of Beaumont began construction. Dedication ceremonies were held in the quadrangle area, at the front of the old union building.

Rites Held for CY Drowning Victim Jimmy Barr
Graveside services were held for Jimmy Barr 40 of 216 Dana Highlands at County Line Cemetery Athens Texas after a Lake Houston drowning with his wife Elma Marie 45. They left Deussen Park Tuesday at 1130 am when their 14 foot boat capsized. Barr an operating engineer with Engineers Local No 450 lived in Highlands 23 years.
