The Texas Highway Commission approved revisions to stage one of the North Belt interchange linking Interstate E1st to the Houston Intercontinental Airport area. The action includes expressway signing and frontage road changes from West Road to Gears Road, raising estimated cost to 3.8 million dollars for a 2.4 mile segment. The commission stressed urgency to begin construction ahead of the airport opening.
