Redistricting battles loom over Texas House Senate maps
Texas lawmakers face a high stakes redistricting fight after the 2010 election surge for Republicans. The House has approved a map party line 92 to 52 with concerns over Latino district creation. Senate maps stalled, with the Legislative Redistricting Board poised if the session ends without a plan. Potential court battles loom as leadership debates independent commissions versus the legislature.
