Late MB Marine commemorated one last time
Jose L Maldonado grew up in Mont Belvieu and Barbers Hill ISD before joining the U S Marines in 2007. He died at 21 on his first Afghanistan tour December 17 in Helmand province. His Camp Pendleton tribute honored him alongside other deceased Marines.

Baytown Youth Fair Barbecue Cook-Off Raises Over 6000
Baytown Fair Grounds hosted 35 teams for the youth barbecue cook-off with 49 entries total and raised more than 6000 for students. Organizers note the event funds animal purchases for the May 13 auction, and the cook-off has topped the fair in animal purchases for the past two years.

The fajita winners were Brothers at Arms first, Full of Drama second, Beer Balt & BBQ third, Bayou BBQ Crew fourth, Uncle Joe fifth. Goose Creek and Lee College mull future of Impact Early College High
Administrators from Goose Creek CISD and Lee College met Monday to decide where to locate classes and how to share costs for the Impact Early College High School. With about 100 students in its first year, the joint venture aims to enroll 400, adding 100 freshmen yearly, but a memorandum of understanding due by May remains unresolved as staff will continue talks.

Taste of Home Cooking School Show in Baytown Today
