Anahuac ISD moves to sue contractor over repairs
Anahuac Independent School District seeks to force completion of the Anahuac High School renovations. The board authorized Business Manager Dick Walker and the Feldman and Rogers firm to pursue action against Capitol Indemnity and Firemen Construction for a $1.9 million contract. The project, begun February 2001, included heating and cooling units and cafeteria renovations, but the district terminated Firemen Construction in October after a 900-item punch list. The district may pursue takeover by Capitol Indemnity or litigation, aiming to obtain the promised work and protect taxpayers. Firemen claims delays stem from brick changes and late punch lists, and offers to complete items or involve a local/mechanical contractor.
