Ask the kids in Clarksville about Burnet
Baytown Sun reports opening of Burnet Park in Lynchburg where children asked who Burnet was. The piece recalls a Clarksville statue of David G. Burnet erected in 1936, notes locals’ limited knowledge, and explores tenuous links between Burnet, Clarksville, and Texas history. It also threads connections to Sam Houston, Houston’s leadership, and Civil War memory in the region.
