Jose Ibarra scored the lone goal as South Houston Trojans edged the Ganders 1-0 in a bi district playoff at Stallworth Stadium.
Sterling pitcher Brett Marshall and Atascocita pitcher Clay Schroeder each held opponents to three hits in a rare duel. Schroeder’s Eagles, ranked No. 3 in the state, prevailed 2-0 with two unearned runs scoring to secure the win.

Baytown voters face a 30 day warning period for red-light scofflaws after the City Council approved 10 cameras at seven intersections last year. An 8 hour analysis found violations at seven sites including Highway 146 southbound at North Alexander Drive with 11 violations and Garth Road southbound at Highway 146 with 22 violations. The city plans red light cameras at selected intersections while Baytown officials and police stress the system will curb abuses and save lives. Across the nation some departments warn of economic strain and potential safety concerns as red light enforcement expands.
Baytown residents and city officials gathered for a joint visioning session to map strengths weaknesses opportunities and threats. Citizens used color coded stickers on the Baytown map while council members and department heads discussed steps to move Baytown from point A to point B and align goals for future growth.
In an evening brainstorm on Baytown's strategic vision residents mapped strengths weaknesses and opportunities. Green dots marked strengths including Lee College parks and cultural diversity while red and blue dots highlighted vacant lots crime and youth recreation gaps. City officials will use the input from sessions and a council retreat to chart a path forward.
