A morning tornado warning issued for the Baytown to Lake Charles area was lifted by 12:30 pm Tuesday as meteorologists said the threat ended. No tornado activity was reported. Civil Defense alerted, schools warned, and the Baytown Refinery took precautions amid a stationary Gulf Coast front. Baytown’s low fell to 64 and high reached 74 earlier.

ALICE Texas March 23 UP The millionaire Duke of Duval George B Parr a South Texas political boss was to testify Tuesday in his pistol case alleging he threatened an opposing politician Manuel Marrequin after a Freedom Party meeting in San Diego on January 16. The dispute followed a late court hearing January 18 when Parr and his nephew Sheriff Archer Parr clashed with four Texas Rangers. Rangers A Y Allee and Joe Bridge were later indicted for assault to murder Parr and Allee faced a separate threat. Parr sought federal protection. it was denied.

Tidmon Boy Fatally Struck by Passing Car
A three year old Tidmon boy died at 9 40 pm after being struck by a car near Seventh and East Texas Avenue in Baytown. William L. Martin, 30, of Mast Fayle Baytown Refinery, said he could not stop in time. The child, Sammy Tidmon, ran from behind two brothers Roy and George to the street. Cahney of Wighlanda Niestag warned residents to beware of rabies in Uidir dogs and stock after a collie sheep dog went mad and bit horses. Chasey said the dog attacked several horses and a horse had to be killed last Friday. He noted rabies may appear up to six weeks after the bite and is monitoring the remaining horses.
