Memories of Quack Shack at REL High School
Willena Lamapie Cherry recalls Robert E. Lee High School dances in the gym before the Quack Shack got its own building. The 1944-45 period saw students using most of the gym for dancing and a game room, with Winnie Brown guiding the Student Council. The center moved in 1949 to a two story building funded by Baytown works, but Hurricane Carla in 1961 ended it.
