William Hutt dies at 87 long Stratford Festival star
William Hutt, a major Canadian classical actor and Stratford Festival fixture for nearly 40 years, died of leukemia at 87. A founding Stratford member, he appeared in 130 productions including King Lear Volpone Tartuffe Richard II and Titus Andronicus and played Prospero in The Tempest and James Tyrone in Long Day's Journey Into Night. He remained active into the 2000s after a mid-1980s stint at Shaw Festival.
