REL student earns Texas Lyceum scholarship
Aditi Singh, a Robert E. Lee graduate and Baytown native, is named one of three Texas Lyceum Leadership Scholarship Awardees for 2012. She was valedictorian, AP scholar, student body vice president, and active in Girls State, drill team, Spanish and psychology clubs. She will study biology and psychology at The University of Texas in Austin.

Each of the 12 awardees receives a 2500 scholarship toward a Texas college or university, based on leadership, grades, essays and community service. Local men answer the call to improving health
More than 100 men joined a free Men’s Health Fair at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital on Friday June 22. Residents from Baytown Crosby Dayton Highlands Houston and Mont Belvieu attended. Screenings included blood pressure cholesterol triglycerides oxygen saturation and body fat. Jerrel Butler of Houston praised talking with a dietitian and learning healthier eating. Hospital staff offered info on family physicians cancer services diabetes sleep disorders wound care heart attack and stroke nutrition. Seminars on healthy eating heart health sinus problems and general men’s health were led by physicians and licensed staff. A post session drawing awarded free Astros tickets and one participant won a free iPad 2. For more events call 832-556-6543.
