The 12 year old All Star event gathers Baytown East North Central and West teams for a midweek start. Competition kicks off Wednesday with Baytown teams taking the field as organizers preview the College Forward event on page 5.
Baytown unit of the National Association of Letter Carriers ran a food drive totaling more than 11,800 pounds. The community donation effort was highlighted on page three with organizers noting strong participation and ongoing needs for local families.

Baytown Parks and Recreation accepts parade entries through 5 p.m. Friday for the citys July 4 celebration at Bicentennial Park. Registration is free with vendor spaces limited for crafts foods games and rides priced from 75 to 200 dollars. The two day event features concerts by the Marshall Tucker Band and Robert Earl Keen and vendors, activities, and fireworks.
Goose Creek CISD trustees interviewed seven candidates for superintendent and plan to announce a lone finalist at a 6:30 p.m. special meeting Thursday. Dr Toby York the district’s 13th superintendent announced retirement effective July 31 after 11 years here and 37 total in education.
Jim McDonnel, a Baytown artist with a long career from South Texas to Dow Chemical, donates artwork to aid wounded soldiers at Fort Hood. His pencil, ink and acrylic works range from pets to military subjects, with proceeds supporting Wheelers for the Wounded in off road events and camping for injured service members.
