Open House for Baytown Cerebral Palsy Center

Baytown census effort used enumerators who visited every dwelling with mail carrier aid. Forms mailed March 21 with 10 day return deadline. 75 to 80 percent returned by mail. Follow up through May included phone and personal visits. Wilson, a Navy Academy graduate and former Humble Oil employee, led Baytown census work and later won Kiwanis honors.

Bill Shaffer Rites Set For Friday
Funeral services for William Ardrey Shaffer 89 of 118 Bay Ridge Beach City will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Paul A. Lee Funeral Home Chapel with Rev B W Dow Jer officiating. Burial will be in San Jacinto Memorial Park Cemetery. He died Wednesday night in a Baytown hospital after ill health. He operated Morrells Drive In on Main Street for years after arriving in Baytown in 1920. Survived by wife Edith Shaffer of Beach City a daughter Mrs J C Biggs and a son Charles Ardrey Shaffer both of Baytown two grandchildren Sgt Charles Shaffer of Vietnam and Mrs Donnie Forester of Baytown two great grandchildren. He was a member of Goose Creek Masonic Lodge 1192 AF&AM Arabia Temple Shrine Houston Kennedy Commandery 61 KT of Baytown and the Baytown Shrine Club.
