Deana Nall reflects on growing up during the Reagan era, contrasting a perceived peacetime prosperity and safety with her daughter’s current era of ongoing conflict. She recalls optimism, Cold War fears, 1984 Olympic pride, and a sense the era’s glow may be fading with time. She notes Reagan’s personal touches like jelly beans and a presidential memory, while acknowledging imperfect realities.
