The Goose Creek CISD board of trustees reorganized at a Monday meeting electing Jenice Coffey as president and Howard Sampson as vice president. Coffey has served on the board since May 2009, she grew up in Baytown and attended Ross S. Sterling High School. See GCCISD on page 9.

Fireworks restrictions ordered in Chambers County
Chambers County Commissioners signed a formal order restricting sale and use of certain fireworks due to drought and wildfire risk. The ban covers rockets with sticks and missiles with fins in unincorporated areas, with fines up to 500 dollars. Public displays with permits from the State Fire Marshal's Office are exempt.
