SAM HAVENS of Houston's Ailey Theatre will lecture at 7 30 p m Monday for BLT adult theater summer workshop at Baytown Little Theater. Open to BLT members and interested persons may join the theater at this time.

More than 400 former Ganders players and Baytown football fans attended a retirement party for Dan Stallworth, honoring 30 years in the Goose Creek school system. The event featured skits, tributes, and a local contract offering ongoing professional status in Baytown while remaining in amateur status if he moves.
A 730 pm Monday mini course at Baytown City Hall covers shelter living and Baytown’s emergency protection procedures. Baytown Civil Defense sponsors the event with a tour of the Emergency Operation Center and two short films.
Theophilus Hubbard Bounds known as Hub, 76, died at Baytown Hospital. A longtime volunteer since 1913, he led Baytown fire services 1946 1963 and helped organize emergency corps. Funeral 5 p.m. Sunday at Paul A. Lee chapel. Burial Hill of Rest Cemetery. Survivors include wife Millicent, children James, Robert, William, and others. Memorials to American Cancer Society.
At 10 25 a m Friday on North Highway 146 a horse and horseless carriage collided. Robert Gene Alien 3311 Marvin said he drove south and tried to pull to the right to miss the horse. Neither the driver nor the horse was injured according to Patrolman T D Stanaland.

Sealed bids for Channelview school bonds totaling 985000 will be opened at a public meeting Monday at 8 p.m. in the Junior High School Library. Interest rates for municipal bonds hover around 6.5 percent after a legislative raise, with building plans for all four district schools tied to the sale of the remaining bonds.
The school board meets Monday at 7 30 p m in the Administration Building to act on salary increases for non teaching district employees and to decide which long discussed programs for the 1989 70 year include a principal in training at Jesse Pumphrey Elementary and a head teacher under Kelley Martin. The agenda also covers school psychology and nursing services, a stringed instrument program, hiring a district attorney, Harlem Elementary integration concerns, federal program participation, coaching staff, building matters, bids for equipment, resignations and new personnel.
Epco Constructors offered the lowest bid of 413000 for Ross Sterling High School vocational shops with bids opened at 4 9 1 at the school. Baxter Construction Co. bid 420000, Marshall 415500, and Hazelwood 426780. The project totals about 350000 plus. Bids for a Baytown Junior library and an administration building addition were postponed as bidders cited a busy market.
The Baytown area expects clear to partly cloudy and warm conditions through Sunday with temperatures from the mid 60s to the upper 80s. Morgan's Point tides show Sunday highs at 11:07 a.m. and 10:37 p.m. with a 11:25 a.m. low. Monday highs at 12:55 p.m. and 10:55 p.m. and lows at 12:31 a.m. and 12:49 p.m.
St. John’s United Methodist Church will sponsor its annual Vacation Bible School from 9 to 11 a.m. June 9 13. Classes will be for four year olds through sixth graders.
