Baytown Chamber luncheon announces Humble Enjay offices to be consolidated on Decker Drive with a 12 story main office building and a 800 unit Friendswood Development apartment complex on a 125 acre tract. Leased Housing Program Is Suggested For Baytown

HUD official Elroy Flieller told Baytown builders that the leased housing program is the only path to low rent housing here and that vacancies are at zero. A city council vote and recertification of the workable program could unlock more federal aid, with long term leases and rental income for builders, though no direct construction funds are available.

Jamie Horn, 12, son of Mr and Mrs Horn of Barbers Hill, will have bone surgery Saturday at Hermann Hospital in Houston. Baytown Veterans group to meet June 10 in the Baytown Civic Center with a Veterans Administration talk. Old-Fashioned July 4th Set For Baytown

Baytown will host an all day downtown Fourth of July celebration on July 3 with a beauty contest carnival games and booths sponsored by the Baytown Jaycees. Civic groups church organizations will join with pie and cake sales a nickel in the haystack art exhibits popcorn stands and caricature sketching. Auctioning 26 merchandise items starts at 6 p.m. Traffic on Texas Avenue will be blocked from Gaillard to Ashbel. Merchants expect special buys all day and stores stay open until 9 p.m.

Four Caught In Baytown With False Money Order

Four individuals were arrested at 2 pm Thursday at Beall Brothers department store 221 West Texas Ave Baytown after an altered money order attempt. A male youth around 20 tried to cash the $2392 instrument. he fled but was caught about two blocks away. Police credited store manager Dale Ripley for alerting authorities and praised the rapid response by Baytown officers and Harris County deputies.

Giant 12 Story Office Complex Planned for Humble and Enjay

Plans outline a 300000 square foot consolidated office tower with two 12 story wings to house about 1000 Humble and Enjay staff. The 200 by 106 by 181 foot tower includes a 175 seat auditorium in a one story training wing. Construction is to take about two years after approval with seven floors to Humble and three to Enjay, no lease space.

Rollingbrook project to redefine Baytown housing and commerce

Rex E. Patrick, project manager, describes Rollingbrook a 35 acre residential commercial complex. Friendswood Development Co. will develop with Baytown investors. Utilities and streets construction begins this fall with no opening date yet announced. The plan aims for high caliber facilities aligned with Baytown planning.
