Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Don Sumners warns that taxpayers overdue on 2011 taxes must pay by July 2 to avoid a July 3 increase of over 20 percent. Delinquents will have accounts turned over to collection attorneys for 60 taxing jurisdictions. Installment options available through October with July 2 deadline for signup.
Baytown’s EMS fleet grows as five new ambulances funded by a sales tax allotment join the department over five years. Mayor Stephen DonCarlos announced a proclamation during National EMS Week and tour of the latest unit, purchased for 153000, with LED lighting and a mobile data terminal. Dana Dalbey leads the response team.
The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Baytown will honor graduating high school seniors at the annual scholarship banquet Thursday June 14 at Goose Creek Country Club. The Rev Romualdo Gonzalez a Robert E Lee High School graduate will deliver the keynote. Born in Miami he moved to Baytown in 1982 and is REL class of 1992. He served in the U S Marines until 1997 and earned degrees from Lee College and the University of Houston. He pursues a master's in theological studies at Houston Baptist and is the associate pastor at a local church.
