The piece argues the founding design of two houses and veto power makes compromise hard amid a confrontational Republican House. Redistricting politics, a new Tea Party influenced House, and attempts by Texas Senator Wentworth to strip redistricting from the Legislature are discussed. It notes debt ceiling battles, potential credit downgrades, and the challenge for President Obama to secure midline policy, urging cautious evaluation of the system and prompting contact with McNeely.
