Nothing Feminine About Girl Viet Cong Guerrillas
In Saigon and across South Vietnam the Viet Cong report a rising role for women in combat and support. Nguyen Thi Dinh, deputy commander of the Liberation Armed Forces, describes women as increasingly numerous in guerrilla ranks, skilled with weapons, and capable of organizing cells and ambush tactics. She notes women’s involvement in front-line fighting and logistics, including rationing, nursing, and riverine transport, highlighting notable figures and the broader shift in gendered roles within the movement.
