Mrs Rose Zamary secretary to the late Congressman Albert Thomas now works for U S Representative George Bush and rests in Methodist Hospital Room 359. Baytown YMCA hosts its first invitational swim meet with preliminaries at 10 a m and finals at 2 p m Saturday with five area teams. Grandmother of Baytown Sun reporter dies at 86

Mrs. Charlie Bevil Masterson Masterson 8, of 1906 Mississippi died Thursday night in a Baytown hospital after a long illness. Born November 17 1882 in Woodville she lived in Warren most of her life before moving to Baytown four years ago. Inch Of Rain Falls In Baytown

A heavy downpour hit Baytown early Friday, dumping over an inch of rain as residents headed to work. It marked the third straight day of rain and brought July’s total to 5.7 inches. Between 7 30 and 3 a.m. one inch was recorded. Rain continued through the morning with more showers forecast for Friday night and Saturday.

Land Commissioner Jerry Sadler refused to authorize sale of 17 625 acres in Trinity and Galveston bays to the Chambers Liberty Counties Navigation District for 1 per acre arguing the district does not need all 25 000 acres held for navigation. He left open the possibility of reconsidering if the district proves future need.

Three MIGs Downed as Korean Forces Rout Viet Cong

South Vietnamese and South Korean units said they killed 380 Communist soldiers in two battles on Friday. In the north, American carrier pilots shot at least three MIGs and possibly downed a fourth in a rare dogfight over North Vietnam. The crash of heavy losses noted decisive ally victories.
