Anahuac school tax to stay at current level
Anahuac Independent School District plans to keep the current tax rate for the coming year as a budget is prepared at the July 31 hearing. The budget will include a 385,000 salary increase, financed by a 56.6 million rise in assessed property values driven by oil and gas growth, avoiding a tax hike. The board postponed the public hearing to review classroom space needs and potential junior high changes, with plans for a new facility and possible bond issues to fund air conditioning, a stadium, and a field house after architectural studies in August.
