City Improvement Work Is Underway in Baytown

Baytown undertakes street repairs water line construction and drainage upgrades funded by a 211 804 50 budget for 12 streets. Phase 1 bids open Thursday night. Bond bonds from 1965 fund about 1 10 million in water lines along Highway 146 Decker Drive Spur 201 Garth Road Lobit and 30 other sites. Project aims 90 days to finish started four months ago. Remaining bond projects include South Main extension to Highway 146 and Ward Road improvements to Kilgore Road. West Main contract 58 714 for a 24 foot roadway will begin next month. Ward Road work delayed awaiting tighterway. start planned in two months.

Junior All Stars in Galena Park Tournament Opener

The Baytown Junior All-Stars will play in the first round of the Galena Park All-Star Tournament at 6 30 p.m. Monday in Galena Park. Kennedy Faces Complaint Over Chappaquiddick Accident

Police filed a formal complaint charging Senator Edward M. Kennedy with leaving the scene of an accident after a weekend wreck on Chappaquiddick Island near Martha's Vineyard. A 28 year old woman, Mary Jo Kopechne, drowned. Kennedy was injured mildly. A hearing was set for July 28 in Edgartown.

Suspects Sought In Ducknap Incident

Baytown police sought three young men in white cowboy hats on charges of ducknaping after Van Meter reported his duck Snowwhite was taken Saturday near North Main and Midway. An officer said the trio approached, one asked to see the duck, and they fled in a light green pickup.
