Central Stars Win City Title In No-Hitter By Stroud
In eight innings Rickie Stroud, 12, pitched a no hitter with 20 strikeouts to lead the Central Stars to a 1-0 victory over the East Stars for the Baytown Little League City Championship. The game lasted over two hours before a near 500‑fan crowd, with East defense and pitching from Chuck Irwin keeping the score tight until the eighth. Central’s run came on a two-out rally as Al Howell stood on third and David Haney drove in the winner. Haney also starred in the Central win over the West Tigers midweek. Stroud’s no hitter capped a memorable night of top‑tier All‑Star play and ends with Central awaiting League City at 7 p.m. Friday, with adjustments for pitcher rest under Little League rules.
