Ground To Be Broken For Humble Building This Fall

Baytown Rotary heard that Humble Enjay plans a 12 story office building with ground to be broken this fall. Bids are open and under study as engineers and officers review the project. Completion is expected about two years after breaking and the Camp Rebel site on Decker Drive was chosen.

Draft Call Change Set for July 30 by Baytown Board

Harris County voter dispute prompts suit over drainage bands

James Shaster Jr. told Commissioners Court he will seek to enjoin Harris County from issuing drainage and flood control bonds after claiming denial of his right to vote due to lacking property on the county tax rolls. Vickery Denies Monopoly Bond Posting Claim

Refinery Chief Joins El Salvador Fire Fight

James W. Boyd of Baytown, supervisor of fire equipment at Humble refinery, flew to El Salvador to direct efforts at the Acajutla facility of Itasa Refining Co. after a bombing ignited nine storage tanks. The refinery, built in 1963 and processing 13,000 barrels daily, employed about 80 people and is controlled by Jersey and Shell interests.
