Chamber Backs Flood Bonds Endorsement by Baytown Chamber
The Baytown Chamber of Commerce backs a Harris County Flood Control District bond issue of 21.5 million dollars to fund drainage projects. The proposal will go to voters on Tuesday July 15. Officials say no new taxes will be needed as old bonds are retired and new funds replace them. About 14.5 million is earmarked for 11 major watershed areas where commitments exist.

School Valuations Going Up Board Of Equalization Notices Are Due In Mail
Approximately 24 000 board of equalization notices for 1969 will be mailed Thursday by the school district tax assessor collector Hobart W Enoch said the notice informs property owners of the 40 to 48 percent valuation increase. The tax roll may reach 404 million though not final. Notices are not tax bills and billing starts in September. Meetings set July 21 22 23 for individuals and July 24 for corporations 9 a m to 5 p m in the School Administration Building. Appointments may be made by calling 422 5431 within 10 days of the notice. Board members are W A Mcfalhannon Norman McEvaney and Wilson A Roper. Current tax collections total about 5 578 908 56 and Lee College is 632 893 04 with overall delinquent collection improving to 98 42 percent as of June 30.
