East Loop Cardinals defeated Central Loop Buffs 4 0 in the Little League City playoffs behind Pete King two hit shutout pitching. King earned the win with six strikeouts as Cardinals scored in each of the first, second, third and fifth frames. Sug McCartney took the loss for Central Loop after giving up seven hits. In a separate city championship game, the Central League Braves edged the East League Oilers 2 0 in a pitching duel. Pluck Harmon started for the Braves and was relieved by Wesley Herrin after five innings. Harmon earned the win while Bugs Montgomery took the loss for the Oilers after yielding two runs in the third.

30 Day Stay for Neely Granted in NFL Case
Ralph Neely remains with the Dallas Cowboys for now after the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals granted a 30 day stay on its order forcing him to play for the Houston Oilers.
