Fall 1966 Evening Wear Embraces Short Beaded Dresses
New York fashion previews highlight the rise of short beaded evening dresses in vivid colors and varied motifs including cable knit and paisley. Sheer beadwork, cage and black lace over nude sheaths, and the reemergence of faille add stature. The season features kite dresses, togas, crepe culottes, and fabrics like lame, chiffon, lace, crepe, and brocade, balancing youth with refined elegance. Black remains dominant in fabrics, with white, pastels, and glittering beading also key. Fashion blends youthful vigor with wearable sophistication for fall evenings.
