Rites Set for R. R. Pryor in Baytown

Funeral services for Robert Ripley Pryor 76 of 905 Barrymore proceed at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Paul U. Lee Chapel with Rev. G N Allison and Rev Basil Jones officiating. Pryor died after injuries from a two truck collision on Decker Drive near Goose Creek Stream Bridge. Charges of negligent homicide against George Torres and driving while license suspended against Warren Luke were filed in Justice Walter Queen's court. Pryor survived by wife Gothie Ann and 3 daughters and 2 sons, 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Baytown Chamber of Commerce annual dinner set for Wednesday

Nearly 400 guests are expected at the Baytown Chamber of Commerce annual banquet Wednesday at the Knights of Columbus Hall. More than 300 reservations had been made by Tuesday morning as tickets remained on sale. Entertainment features the Madrigal Singers from Robert E. Lee Choir in Elizabethan costumes performing Camelot selections. Robert Gillette will preside, and FE. C. Gack Rimmons will become president.
