Baytown voters face a $2 million bond plan to pave eight designated thoroughfares with $1.2 million of the funds. $380,000 would pave other streets. Property owners on designated streets pay up to 8 per front foot, residential street petitioners up to 4 per front foot, city funds cover the rest. The council prioritizes designated thoroughfares, while residential paving requires petitions and caps. Baytown voters will decide on a $2,840,000 city land and street bond issue this Saturday. Funeral services for former Baytown resident John Toler Mgebroff 65 will be held at 2 p m Thursday in the Paul A Lee Funeral Home chapel. Mgebroff died Monday in Salt Lake City Utah after moving there in 1961. He worked for Humble from 1925 to 1959 and was a longtime Baytown American Legion official. He is survived by his widow Lucy Lee Mgebroff of Salt Lake City a daughter in Houston a son in Salt Lake City four sisters and three brothers. Interment will be at Memory Gardens of Baytown Cemetery.

The third annual midwinter concert by REL concert bands will be February 8 in the school auditorium. More than 2,000 attended last year as music ranged broadly. Director Charles Forque said audiences can expect varied tastes and a salute to Glenn Miller. The junior-senior band has 145 members. sophomore band 102, with James Mears directing the upper group and Robert Huwkler leading the sophomores. Mrs Annie Jardina aged 76, a Baytown resident for seven years, died Tuesday at her home on 1700 Woodlawn. East Herris County Community Chest will hold its annual public meeting at 7 30 pm Tuesday February 27 at the Chamber of Commerce Mrs Norman Hargrave council secretary announced.
