The 14 cent hourly raise retroactive to Jan 1 and 4 percent bump next Jan 11, plus job security provisions, wage rate retention, higher shift differentials and a 1.5 percent rise in company medical plan contributions, following an industry wide pattern set by Gulf Oil Port Arthur settlement.

Certification Tests At Lee College For GED
Lee College to administer General Education Development tests next Monday Tuesday and Wednesday nights January 16 17 and 18. A $10 fee applies for group testing with $15 for individual sessions. New Baytown YMCA Building Nears Completion
Baytown's new 225000 YMCA building on Wye Drive is near completion this month. Executive Director Jim Armsworth announced the five acre site will support expansion with a 17000 square foot main building featuring men and women areas, baths, a masseur, a 96 by 80 foot gym, two handball courts, and air conditioning except for gym and courts. A six to seven thousand square foot pool will begin this spring for a summer completion. The facility will offer various memberships and host future courses, with plans for tennis, baseball, and football facilities and ample parking on the west side.
