Steel executive urges quota to curb foreign steel imports

60 000 Strike Oil Refineries Nationwide Go On Strike

The Wil Chemival and Atomic Workers Union ordered a nationwide strike of about 60,000 refinery workers starting at 12 01 a m local time. Some refineries plan to run with supervisory personnel. Union seeks 12 cent hourly raise in a 23 month contract. average refinery worker earns about 3 800 per hour.

Baytown Fire Destroys Home of Elliott Family

A fire destroyed the home of Mr and Mrs Bo Elliott at 3814a Tri City Beach Road shortly after 2:00 a.m. Saturday. Baytown firefighters fought the blaze for more than two hours aided by a north wind. Man charged with double murder in Harris County

Scott Mills 30 of McNair was charged with murder and assault with intent to murder after two women were shot in a car on Bohemian Hall Road. Maggie Devin also known as Maggie Guillory, 34, died. Czech Leaders Warn Do Not Rock The Boat

Prague reports that the 21 member presidium of the Czechoslovak Communist party warned against public ultimatums and demands as possible triggers for further Soviet intervention. The declaration urged unity behind November and December reforms and criticized petitions for press censorship lift and more leadership transparency. It noted threats of strikes as unjustified and condemned media campaigns opposing party decisions.
