BAYTOWN Toastmasters will meet at 6 30 P M with Jerry Gahn hosting and speeches by Clarence Johnson George Reiss Jim Dodson and John Webb. Mt Helen Leonard, Sun correspondent in Mont Belvieu, is a patient at Baytown Hospital with bronchial infection and will return to reporting when possible. A Parent And Family Education workshop, hosted by the Baytown council of PTAs, begins at 8 30 a m Thursday at James Bowie Elementary School, focusing on federal aid laws. more sessions will follow for the public.

Harris County officials sworn in at courthouse ceremony

In Houston, eight Harris County officials were sworn into new terms at the Harris County Courthouse. County Judge Bill Elliott led the oath for several judges and justices of the peace. Other sworn in included County Treasurer Constance McDavid and District Clerk Dick Lindley. Baytown Chamber members will attend a Gulf Coast leadership conference in Galveston, with eight Baytown attendees listed. Economic Picture Bright Big Year Seen For Baytown

Baytown expects 1967 to be the most progressive year in the city's history driven by industrial growth and a U.S. Steel mill project in West Chambers County. The city completed or progressed major improvements this year with a $3.663 million budget, including road, water, sewer, and facility projects such as a new city hall, street repaving, expansion of treatment plants, and service extensions to Sterling High School and the YMCA. The year ahead includes resurfacing Airhart Drive, improving Commerce Street, and further development in East District and Oak Addition.

Focus Will Soon Be Back in The Baytown Sun

The Baytown Sun resumes publication of FOCUS magazine in the January 7 Weekend Edition after a holiday pause.
