Ronnie Lee Ozio, 14, a quiet hunter from Orange Texas, faces murder charges after allegedly stabbing a friend and shooting his father, grandmother, and his father's fiancée in a bloodspattered East Texas apartment. The teen, who asked a neighbor to call police, was told his rights in court as he awaited formal charges. Debi Mayberry survived. Craig Mayberry, 16, was among the wounded.

Orange County juvenile held over murder charge

Ozio remains in a single juvenile detention cell and cannot be tried for murder for two more years due to age after questioning by deputies and District Attorney Roy Wingate following legal rights advisement.

Allen Lessing of Orange died Friday from an apparent heart attack. He was the father of Edith Todd of 221 Gulf and uncle of Earl Snake of 1120 Sunset. Baytown Thrift Exchange postponed its meeting to 10 a.m. January 10 at the Chamber of Commerce building.

Auto Mishap Record Posted Nine Killed In 1966 Baytown

Unofficial Baytown Police traffic division report shows 1966 as the peak year for local and highway accidents with nine deaths in the area. City fatalities include four within Baytown and five on highways inside city limits, with over 1,293 total accidents and 343 injuries in 1966. Chief Blair Mann notes higher totals than 1965 and outlines planned selective traffic enforcement beginning January. Jeweler Jacobs Dies In Houston

Gus Jacobs longtime Baytown jeweler died Sunday afternoon in a Houston hospital. Funeral services planned Monday at Levy's Funeral Chapel with Rabbis Robert L Kahn and Samuel Schwartz presiding. Survived by wife Yetta daughter Mrs Dan Kleinman of San Angelo son Marvin Jacobs of San Diego five grandchildren. Burial in Emanu El Cemetery. He was a Tem ple Emanu El member Lions Club and Baytown Chamber of Commerce member. The couple had moved to Houston years ago.

Don’t Forget To Register

Beginning Tuesday residents of Baytown can register to vote at all five stations in the city, says County Tax Assessor-Collector Carl S. Smith. Registration is free since poll tax abolition in Texas. Smith expects over 600,000 Harris Countians to register. Eligible voters must live in Texas one year, in Harris County six months, and be 21. Those who become eligible later this year can register before Jan. 31, 196%.

The death of A. W. Moon Mullican, famed Grand Old Opry entertainer, was reported after a heart attack in Beaumont. Survived by sisters Mrs. Willis Pepper of Channelview and Mrs. H. S. End of Bloody New Year Truce Sparks Renewed U S Bombing

In Saigon the fighting resumed after the New Year truce ended, with U S jet bombers striking North Vietnam over the Red River Delta and destroyers exchanging fire with shore batteries near Vinh.
