Mardi Gras Riots: 6 Hurt and 100 Arrested in New Orleans

Riots swept the French Quarter as Mardi Gras crowds swelled to a 20 year high. Police used tear gas bombs to restore order after an auto theft suspect shouted to the crowd. Lawrence Morrison, 18, Arlington, Virginia, was identified. Initial clashes occurred near St. Peter Street and at Pat O Brien's and Dixie's Bar.

La Porte Bayshore Neighborhood Center Elects Officers

Officers for La Porte Bayshore Neighborhood Center 4955 were chosen led by W. Key Jighson as president and Mrs. William Jones as vice chair. Board members include Mrs. Baker Marvin Burch Mrs. Kerber Calvin Compton and others. staff features Harvey Gabler and Ed Ward with eight part time workers. 1954 annual report shows 550 families joined and 19 036 participants in activities. Summer program had 9 074 participants with over 225 class sessions and 450 club meetings. New exercise class starts Feb 28 at the Community house with Mrs. Dan Kennedy. Ceramics classes run Thursday with advanced and beginner sessions. Plans for summer Little League underway with four teams for ages eight to fourteen and one for teens.

Preacher Bolin predicts killer will be caught soon

Banks to Close Tuesday for Washington Birthday

Mayor Denies Developer Holds Them In Deer Park

Mayor Dunn declared that Ted Pasternak of Center Development Corp has no bonds from Deer Park. Houstonian stabbed after auto crash near death

Galveston February report says a Houston man, Lawrence White, 30, was stabbed multiple times during a Sunday collision near the Galveston expressway and remained in critical condition at Memorial Hospital.
