Barge option eyed to curb Houston truck traffic growth

An audience member asked to engage TxDOT or HGAC to promote barge transport as an alternative to trucks. Pat Younger noted that applications stress barges’ environmental benefit, Mundinger cited truck traffic growth as a concern, and support from TxDOT and HGAC could aid the project. Funding for 2013 remains outside the President’s budget, but active funding efforts continue.
