Baytown man gets 8 years for firearms tied to Zetas
Manuel Gomez Barba, a 30 year old Baytown resident, was sentenced to over eight years in federal prison for illegally exporting firearms to Mexico. Prosecutors say the weapons were bound for the Zeta Drug Cartel and one was used in a February 2011 shooting that killed one American agent and wounded another. Barba pleaded guilty to exportation of firearms on Oct. 31, 2011. his sentence runs consecutively with a prior nine year term for methamphetamine conspiracy.
