Stocks end lower amid weak regional manufacturing data
Stocks pulled back as regional manufacturing weakness and slower U.S. economic growth weighed on sentiment. The Philadelphia Fed index at negative 4.3 marked the weakest since 2003, before a brief pullback despite a slower third quarter pace. Dow fell 42.62 points to 12,421.25 with S&P 500 and Nasdaq also lower. Alcoa sank 2.5 percent while bonds rallied as the 10 year yield dropped to 4.55 percent.
