An early morning fire on Fourth Street in Highlands destroyed two homes and left three families homeless. Firefighters arrived around 6 am and controlled the blaze within about an hour, with Baytown Battalion Chief John Carr noting assistance from his department.
Fire departments from Highlands Crosby Baytown Mont Belvieu Channel View and Cloverleaf responded to a pre Christmas blaze and prevented spread. Harris County officials preliminarily determined the fire was accidental. SEE FIRE page 3.
