Between 150 and 200 machines were seized, many lacking a $250 federal stamp for gambling devices. Raids ran from 1 p.m. to nightfall, with additional actions across at least a dozen states. City Council Tests Written Policy On Gifting Land
City Council Wednesday night moved to draft a written policy outlining conditions for the city to give away property it owns. Mayor A Clayton Hansen led the effort after the council previously gave land to a private firm for a service station site, which has not yet been built. The meeting also approved a quit claim deed for a Rice Street right of way, tied to a church purchase, and discussed past land givings as two other examples. The council also approved a resolution enabling bond-related business with a Houston bank connected to Fresh Water Supply District 8, dissolved and annexed by the city. Hansen said he spoke with a Houston Natural Gas Corp representative who would meet with the council in January about gas rates. Mayors invited to a Wooster Fire Dept meeting in January.
