Fireball sighting as rocket third stage ignites over horizon
A brilliant fireball lit the dusk sky described as the third stage ignition at 30 000 feet. Police and newspaper offices in a 350 mile radius received calls from observers. Trang World Airlines pilot Joe Nichols near Albuquerque said the fireball lingered on the western horizon. In Long Beach a father told his children it was Santa Claus and his reindeer.
