REL Debate Team Shines at Brenham Tournament
Robert E. Lee High School seniors Hector Vela and Elizer Alvarez placed third in cross examination team debate at Brenham High School on November 26, their first tournament win as partners. Alvarez and Vela went undefeated through three rounds before losing in the semifinals, with Alvarez also a semifinalist in extemporaneous speaking. Freshmen Meridith Gibson and Tara Bevers also contributed, while Luisa Perez earned an interpretation semifinal in prose and poetry. This marks the Gander Debate Team’s second weekend victory of the season following a strong showing at Little Cypress Mauriceville where Zendejas and Bourne finished second.
