Christmas Past and Present Holiday Event in Baytown

Baytown Historical Preservation Association hosts its third annual Christmas Past and Present on Saturday December 10 from 5 to 8 pm at Republic of Texas Plaza 5117 North Main Street. Volunteers in period dress guide visitors through 1894 Wooster School and 1910 Brown-McKay Farmhouse decorated with candles cedar trees. The 1898 Bert Brown House remains unrepaired inviting a peek at how the Brown children might have adorned their tree.

Love INC Coat Distribution Set for Today in Baytown

Love In the Name of Christ Baytown will distribute winter coats and other cold weather items collected during its 10th annual coat drive from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church located at 304 N. Baytown Rebuilds Bayland Marina After Ike Destruction

Bayland Marina near the Fred Hartman Bridge is under reconstruction and set to reopen before summer 2012. The city owned facility, operated by a contractor, is funded mainly by FEMA at a cost of 4.3 million dollars. The marina will return to about 100 boat capacity, hosting small sailboats catamarans and power boats from 35 to 55 feet, with nearby pipeline work visible.

Baytown teen jailed for A&M bomb hoax

A 16 year old Baytown student was arrested after a hoax bomb threat against Texas A M University forced evacuation of the Sterling G Evans Library and nearby buildings. Investigators traced the threat to Baytown and Goose Creek ISD, and the teen was charged with terroristic threat against an institution a third degree felony. He was released to his parents.

Baytown Christmas Parade Awards Highlight 2011 Theme

Baytown’s 2011 Christmas Parade under “A Toyland Christmas” drew 120 entries and over 200 distinct units. ExxonMobil won best use of theme, Baytown Fire Department earned most entertaining entry, and Baytown Health EMI with Cheryl’s Dance Studio staged Santa outfits on Texas Avenue.
