Van Gogh in Arles at the Metropolitan Museum
A major Metropolitan Museum exhibition presents Van Gogh’s 15 months in Arles with 146 works from public and private collections. The show pairs paintings and fully worked drawings, highlights his bold color and energy, and includes Gauguin’s pieces. Curator Pickvance notes the strong letters from Theo accompany the catalog. Sponsored in part by Manufacturers Hanover and the Robert Wood Johnson Jr. Charitable Trust.

Laredo tailors revive custom clothing
Venanecio Ruiz and Lita Santos keep the sewing craft alive in Laredo. Santos runs Lita's Sewing Shop with four workers, making 5 to 10 dresses daily and repairing heirloom garments, brides gowns, and costumes for local events. Ruiz, a 43 year veteran tailor at Gateway Cleaners, updates and restyles clothes from suits to ties, with plans for a children’s line and soon a broader ladies wear collection.
