City officials have reached agreements with most property owners for rights of way along Massey Tompkins Road as part of the 1981 bond program. Twelve parcels have been acquired or are in process. two remain near North Main. The plan straightens curves, adds paving and curbs, and would widen the road to connect Highway 146 with North Main and Rollingbrook Drive to Decker Drive, financed from leftover bond funds. A separate $6.5 million bond sale may fund two new fire stations, park development, and drainage, water and sewer projects after interest-rate plans are reviewed in January.
